The La Clapière landslide is located in France in the Southern Alps, in the northern part of the upper Tinée River valley, on the left bank. It is situated at 80 kilometers to the North of Nice and one kilometer downstream to the Saint Etienne de Tinée village.
At the slope foot, a 60 million m3 landslide is active.
The landslide spreads from the Tinée River bed (elevation 1,100 m) to an elevation equal to 1,800 m.
On its sides, it is limited by the Dailoutre valley and the Rabuons valley, i.e. a foot length equal to 1,100 m and thus, an affected area greater than 80 hectares.
